20 exposures (+ 5 edited) Big Idea: How does light affect Black and White photography? Students will photograph images that reflect the photographers understanding of light and design as it applies to black and white photography.
Students will learn how to: - develop a proficiency and aesthetic awareness of the creative uses of black and white photography to create fine art images. Emphasis is placed on negative/positive shades (eg wide scope of the shades of gray), light tones, dark tones such as high and low contrast subjects and textures as well as lines, patterns shapes and natural design elements. - use compositional skills to further enhance views with attention to image detail Procedure: The assignment calls for you to go out investigate images that will demonstrate your understanding of black and white film and how the subtle shades of grays, blacks and whites can be captured. The aim of this assignment is to make interesting and affecting photographs using tones (high contrast and low contrast), textures, shapes, shadows, patterns and additional design elements along with sound compositional skills. Using Photography as a means of an artistic expression relating to fine art.
What to do: Capture images that display the following:
Presentation: a) upload to Photo b) Make a contact sheet using Photo 2 columns - 20 images on contact sheet - 20 + 5 edited c) Edit 5 images - Also include the edited 5 images as a jpegs in google classroom d) Complete self evaluation sheet and submit contact sheet
Note: Submit the complete folder with all related files uploaded to the classroom server. Students are responsible for confirming the work is submitted and submitting the work in the appropriate marking drawer.
