Due: SURREALISM A movement in art and literature that flourished in the early twentieth century. Surrealism is aimed at expressing imaginative dreams and visions free from conscious rational control.
Double Exposure In film and photography double exposure is a technique in which a piece of film is exposed twice. The resulting photographic image shows the second image superimposed over the first. The technique can be used to create ghostly images or to add people and objects to a scene that were not originally there. Using Photoshop’s editing capabilities, a “fake” double exposure can be created with your digital photographs.
Assignment: Create a Surreal Double Exposure or collage with a specific theme. Photographs must be your original work. - focus on creativity (try unusual combinations, tell a story, solve problems, create something unique)
Purpose: To develop your artistic eye, and learn the technique of creating a photographic montage through double exposure in photoshop. -I will need to see that you have used masks and clipping masks. WHAT TO DO: Brainstorm a plan for your image, considering what different images will be required to create it. Shoot photos specifically for combining into a multiple-exposure image. You may use previous images from other lessons or shoot new images. Edit meticulously in Photoshop to create a compelling artistic image which surprised the viewer in some way.
- Watch the tutorial to review masking and clipping masks - Create an image with 3 images that fits on a 8.5 x 11 (letter size) at 300 dpi. - 2 of the images must be yours. - Save it out as a jpeg Photograph the images necessary to complete the work. Use Adobe Photoshop to create the finished product.
